Zimbabwean development specialist Christabelle Peech was blown away by the three GSGC-sponsored clubs she visited in spring 2021 while assessing her country’s tourism industry during the pandemic. She’d known about GSGC’s work in the region, but 2021 was her first face-to-face — well, mask-to-mask — meeting.
“I loved every minute of it,” Peech said, as she headed home to Harare greatly encouraged.

Eager to spread the GSGC story, Peech quickly secured the interest of Obscura Films, an award-winning Zimbabwe-based film house, and found incredibly generous donors to pick up the tab. The film crew then sifted through storyline options, pinpointed the protagonist, and honed the right interview questions — then tweaked the timeline to accommodate the birth of a baby!

Filming wrapped up in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, in early February, and the film debuted in GSGC’s hometown of Vancouver, Washington, earlier this month at the first in-person gathering of GSGC supports since the pandemic changed life so dramatically.
