Empowering Mentors: Social Behavior Change Communication

At Global Sojourns Giving Circle we believe in the transformative power of education and mentorship. So, we’re thrilled to share this story from Project Luangwa, where 20 of theGirls and Boys Clubs we support are run, as they embarked on their first-ever Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) workshop for these dedicated Mentors.

Led by an external facilitator, Joshua, from Restless Development under the SHESOARS consortium project, this workshop marked a significant step in the capacity building of Project Luangwa’s Mentors. These mentors operate within our Satellite safe space, focusing on a catchment area crucial to our project’s impact.

Empowering through EducationThe SBCC workshop was a testament to the power of education and collaboration. It brought together mentors who are the backbone of our initiatives, providing them with valuable insights and practical skills in SBCC. The expert facilitators shared not only knowledge but also real-life community experiences, making the learning process relatable and effective.

Inspiration through InteractionInteractive sessions and group discussions ignited creativity and innovative approaches to SBCC. Witnessing the mentors come together, eager to learn and collaborate on effective strategies, was truly inspiring. Their dedication to driving positive change in their communities through better communication is commendable.

Equipping Change-MakersEighteen teachers successfully completed the first cohort of the SBCC workshop. They are now equipped not only to implement SBCC strategies but also to train and share this knowledge with others. This ripple effect promises to contribute significantly to gender development in their communities.

Mentor Prisca Sakala from Yosefe Girls Club in Zambia attended the workshop and shared her thoughts: “I left the training feeling confident and ready to share my newly acquired knowledge with others in the community I am serving. I highly recommend this training to anyone looking to develop their training skills. I am looking forward to getting involved in more partnerships in the future. Together, our community will be a better place for our girls and boys!”
