CHANGING LIVES, ONE GIRL AT A TIME.
Global Sojourns Giving Circle (GSGC) creates safe spaces in Southern African countries to empower and educate girls and strengthen their communities. We can effect a healthy transformation for those who would otherwise be left behind. Are you with us?

WE CREATE A RIPPLE EFFECT
When girls are empowered, nurtured and educated, we see them open to new ideas, new ways of doing things and new opportunities. When a girl finds a new path—one that isn’t defined by abuse, poverty or other challenging circumstances —she’s more likely to build a better future for herself, her family and her community. The impact is far-reaching.
WHY GIRLS?
If you’re born a girl in most African countries, you won’t have much control over your future. And that future can be harsh: gender discrimination, lack of resources, nowhere to turn for help and few options to improve your situation. Because HIV rates here are among the highest in the world, many African children lose one or both parents to AIDS. Despite a tradition of extended family support, girls are least likely to receive it and the last to be schooled if money runs low or runs out.
When empowered and educated, girls think of new possibilities, achieve brighter futures, and help transform their communities.
Research shows that 80-90% of work done by international youth programs benefit boys. When programs include girls, the most privileged benefit and poor and vulnerable girls are left behind. GSGC focuses on children who might otherwise remain emotionally isolated and illiterate in a region where education is both critical and elusive.
