The Giving Circle has been deeply engaged with the volunteers at Tusa Munyandi since 2008.
In 2008 the apparently small sum of $4,400 paid the school requirements for 60 children, funded some micro-loans for care-givers and provided some funding for computer training for the 2 leaders and basic business training for the micro-loan recipients.
In 2009 our gift of $6,000 paid for school requirements for 58 children. It also funded overhead costs. This sum included an outing to Victoria Falls for the children to accompany our GS Giving Circle members who traveled there in August 2009; it was a very special experience for all.
In 2010 the Giving Circle contributed $6,178. This paid the school requirements for 58 vulnerable children (38 in primary and 19 in secondary); some funding for 4 group micro-loans, and some overhead expenses.
The main focus of this partnership is the education of orphaned and vulnerable children who would otherwise not attend school. It has kept them in the homes of guardian caretakers by alleviating some of the costs to them.
