The energy, passion to help others and “can do” attitude of Dorothy Sichamba drew our attention to Ray of Hope.
This community organization based in Livingstone, Zambia was started in 1998 by a group of men and women who realized the need to assist orphaned children. Many children had lost their parents through HIV/AIDS related illness and were left in abject poverty, often taking to the streets in search of food and money for their survival.
Today, Dorothy leads the organization as they continue to assist orphans and vulnerable children, empower vulnerable families with micro-loans and provide educational opportunities for children and young adults in the community.
The GS Giving Circle has assisted Ray of Hope with funding for their micro-loan programs and is currently supporting workshops designed to help prepare adolescent girls for future careers.
