Our members come from locations across the country and have a variety of backgrounds. Meet a few of them:
Paige H.
Retired pre-school teacher from Portland, OR. She is a member of the Executive Committee with a passion for Africa. Paige provides great input and energy to the circle. “The Giving Circle gives me the unique opportunity to learn, questions, share and directly impact the giving process. I have loved meeting and working with our Zambian and South African partners!”
Linda D.
A veteran of the non-profit world, Linda spent 30 years working for Volunteers of America. While based in Denver, Colorado, her travel bug is intense and she’s more often on the road than home. She’s passionate about philanthropy and has made multiple trips to Africa.
Jerry G.
Jerry lives with h. is wife Win in Arlington, Virginia. He is a retired International Maritime and Energy Lawyer. The Giving Circle’s focus on Livingstone, Zambia and Cape Town, South Africa really spoke to Jerry since those two locations were among his favorites during his lifetime of philanthropic giving and traveling.
Megan W.
Megan is a Financial Planner who divides her time between the Washington State and Washington DC. “It is an opportunity to connect on a more personal level rather than simply reading books and news articles. I’m excited to be part of the Giving Circle!” She also has made dolls for the Circle.
Naomi Hall
Naomi is a Homemaker living in Vancouver, Washington. “I am glad to help women in Africa with micro-loans and to give the girls a chance to go to school, even to learn to dance. It is good to see and hear the reports of how our contributions are being used. The doll project is especially appealing. I feel a greater connection to the GSGC than to most other organizations!”
Sandy B.
Sandy is the Executive Director of Giving Circles Network and lives in the Washington DC area. She decided to join the GS Giving Circle to support a Giving Circle internationally, participate in a community of people with whom she shares common values.
She supports engaging with a group that she believes espouses the critical thinking and issues analysis required to make a difference overseas. She is currently a member of the Vetting Committee.
Heidi B.
Business owner and financial planner, Heidi has been a member of the GS Giving Circle since its inception. With a strong feeling of connection to the people and the land, she’s made multiple trips to Africa. “The ability to see first hand the difference my contribution makes while at the same time raising my knowledge of the issues makes my donation to the GS Giving Circle double rewarding.” Heidi set up our database and is one of our photographers.
Judy M.
Judy has been a member and supporter from the beginning. “Of course the real reason I joined the Giving Circle was because of Priscilla. This Giving Circle is ‘hands on’, full of fun, need and feedback stories; so that our monies feel like they share joy, and energy as well as dollars needed.”
