The Global Sojourns Giving Circle helps individuals pool their time, talent and financial resources to educate and empower children, especially girls, in Sub-Saharan Africa. Members make a direct, lasting impact while learning about issues in the region.
When you consider where to give, where is your heart drawn?
For members of our Giving Circle at Global Sojourns, the answer is Africa.
Our members have lived in Africa, have visited or have always felt a deep connection to the continent and the people. For many who have spent time in Africa, they leave wanting to give back to the place from which they received so much, staying engaged with the people with whom tight relationships have been woven. Simply put, that is how the Giving Circle started: to help people connect to Africa, transforming the situation of its people, easing the struggles they face by organizing resources and giving in a direct, meaningful and beneficial way.
The Circle’s giving focus is on education – girls’ education in particular – and on making small loans to help sustain the families and caretakers of children. We focus on Southern Africa where communities have been hard hit by poor governance, lack of schools and teachers, the HIV/AIDS pandemic and other challenges.
Within this Giving Circle each member has a voice in the projects we funds. Members are encouraged (but not required) to participate in the educational aspect of grant making. This allows the Circle to evolve and improve its practices as it learns from experience in international development.
Dear Visitor, we welcome you to this world of giving and thank you for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.
